Cricket is a game where we all love to watch brilliant balls and extraordinary catches along with good hits. Though T20 cricket is termed as the batsmen game, make no mistake, it is the bowlers who win it for the team. And it has been evident with the fact that teams who have a brilliant bowling attack, do have the edge in the tournament. So, who is it going to be this time around to turn games around for his team? Let’s have a look at the probables who could become the proud winner of the Purple Cap this year:

5. Jasprit Bumrah

Boom Boom Bumrah is the one on whom Mumbai Indians rely heavily. Over the years Bumrah has become the best white-ball bowler not just in IPL and India, but in the whole world. So obviously, on paper Bumrah is one of the favorites to win the Purple cap this year. Last year Bumrah had 19 scalps to his name in 16 matches. Overall, Bumrah has 82 wickets to his name in 77 matches.

4. Pat Cummins

With a hefty price tag, comes heavy responsibilities. And Pat Cummins does have a strong shoulder to carry that pressure. Cummins was the highest wicket-taker in tests during the 2019 season. He is also the number one test bowler in ICC rankings. But this is the shortest format we are talking about. But hey, quality speaks for itself, no matter which format it is. Though Pat’s overall IPL career is not that promising, he would want to change it. Thus far, Pat has 17 scalps to his name playing 16 matches over three seasons in the IPL.

3. Rashid Khan

Captain of the Afghan National team, and a rising star in world cricket, Rashid was a smart buy by SRH. Rashid is one bowler who can change the scenario of the match in one over. His googlies are most of the time unplayable and those are the ones that fetch him most of the wickets. Though last season was not that fruitful for him with just 17 wickets in his kitty, overall Rashid stood up to his reputation picking 55 wickets in 46 matches in just three seasons.

2. Mohammad Shami

Last IPL Shami took 19 wickets in 14 matches. Shami could be a surprise factor in this year’s IPL with an amazing form behind him. 2019 saw Shami emerge as the best ODI bowler in the world, and that should give him the confidence to go forward.

1. Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal has been a consistent performer for RCB ever since he started playing for the team. With the pitch expected to be dry in the emirates, the leggie could become the owner of the purple cap. And with Lady luck behind him, Chahal could ride the magic carpet of ultimate success in this year’s IPL. Chahal already has 100 wickets to his name in IPL, playing just 84 matches.

Wild Card: Deepak Chahar

Last IPL Deepak too 22 wickets, and this performance earned him spot in the national team. He also took a hat-trick against Bangladesh in a T20 match. His change-ups could fetch him loads of wickets. And with Dhoni behind the wickets to guide him, he just could blow it away with the whistle Podu.
