The countdown for India’s biggest cricket carnival- Indian Premier League (IPL) has started. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already announced that the cash-rich league will commence on September 19. The final of the tournament will be played on November 10. IPL governing council is currently working on the schedule of the tournament. It will likely be announced soon.

Meanwhile, the BCCI passed the last hurdle on Monday after receiving a go-ahead nod from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) & Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for hosting the tournament in UAE. The news has brought cheers to all the IPL franchises, who had been waiting long for the final nod from the government. As per reports, the franchises will now meet shortly with BCCI office-bearers, where the latter would discuss the newly made Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) & rules before all the teams will make their ways to UAE in and around August 21.

As per reports, Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) would be the 1st team to land in UAE followed by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). All other remaining teams would reach the gulf nation by August 28. As of now, two franchises CSK & Virat Kohli lead RCB are eyeing to conduct a one-week training camp in Chennai & Bengaluru respectively before leaving the country, if state governments permit them.

IPL was supposed to start from March 29

IPL 2020 was originally scheduled to start on March 29. But the COVID-19 pandemic forced the tournament to be postponed for an indefinite period. The deadly virus is still wrecking-havoc across the country. So, the tournament had to be shifted outside India. IPL chairman Brijesh Patel earlier confirmed that IPL 2020 will be organized in UAE.
