Veteran West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle has announced that he will not take part in Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020. He cited personal reasons for the same.
CPL 2020 is one of the most exciting T20 league. The event was supposed to start from 18 August and will continue until September 10, which is subject to Government’s approval amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. After a fallout with Jamaica Tallawahs, Gayle had earlier joined Lucia Zouks for CPL 2020. The player draft for the tournament will take place on June 24. CPL authority has confirmed the news. “We understand that Chris has decided to not take part in CPL personal reasons. We wish Chris all the best for the rest of 2020 and hope to see him back at CPL in 2021,” said CPL spokesperson.
It has been leaned that Universe Boss is unable to meet his kids amidst lockdown. He has been living in Jamaica over the past few months but his kids are St Kitts. As per a report in ESPNCricinfo, Gayle pulled out of CPL 2020 as the explosive opener expressed his desire to spend time with his family.

Chris Gayle is one of the most explosive batsmen in the shortest format of the game. He played for several franchises across the globe. He is the leading run-scorer in T20. But Gayle struggled to perform in CPL in the last couple of years. He scored 2,344 runs in CPL. In the last season of the tournament, he scored 243 matches from 10 matches which also includes one century. But rumors are doing the round that Gayle has pulled out of the tournament as there was a proposed pay cuts in CPL. 40 years old Gayle recently struggled with the bat.
