Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik is quite experienced as far as IPL is concerned. He has played for five teams in the tournament. So, he has a good idea about the structure and other details of the cash-rich league. Currently, he plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He is also the skipper of the side.
With the resumption of the IPL 2020 around the corner, he is all prepared to lead his team. Meanwhile, during a conversation Karthik said, KKR is the best team of IPL in terms of players handling capacity. Once he played as the wicketkeeper-batsman for team India. But with MS Dhoni’s emergence, he remained on the sideline for a long period. “The one thing that goes with being with other teams is you see how the owners, how they treat players, how they react to wins and losses. Over a while, I have realized that KKR is the best when it comes to the handling of players, handling of wins and losses, and overall camaraderie and the relationship they tend to have through the year, irrespective of whether the IPL is going on or not,” cricketer said during a chat show.
KKR is among the successful teams of the IPL. They have won the title in 2012 and 2014 under Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy. He later moved on to the Delhi franchise. Then KKR spent Rs 7.4 crore in 2018 to secure the service of Karthik. He was also named as the skipper of the side. In that year he led KKR to playoffs. Last year the team struggled to move ahead. Karthik will try to have a go at this year’s tournament which is going to start from September 19 in UAE. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, IPL 2020 will not take place in India. Ahead of the tournament, KKR skipper said, “I think I have come to probably one of the most balanced and loving franchises. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with KKR, easily the best franchise I have played for, in terms of ownership and the way they have taken care of all the players.”
