IPL 2020 has presented some of the most extraordinary cricket matches in front of us and one such match just concluded at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday night. In an important match of the group league, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced each other. Both the team showed inconsistency in this year’s cash-rich league.
Batting on a slightly greenish top, the KKR was only able to scramble 84 runs in their 20 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. The first three batsmen of KKR, namely Shubman Gill (1), Tripathi(1), Nitish Rana (0) scored in single digits. The highest score from the side was made by skipper Morgan (30 off 34) but that was not sufficient. The RCB bowling attack looked sharp and destructive. The star of their pack was Mohammed Siraj. He became the first cricketer in the history of the tournament to bowl 2 maiden overs. Siraj claimed the top orders of the KKR. He dismissed Tripathi, Rana, and Banton. In his four overs, he spent only 8 runs with an economy of 2.
In reply, the RCB won the match comfortably with 39 balls to spare. After opener Devdutt Padikkal (25) and Aron Finch (16) lost their wickets cheaply, skipper Virat Kohli (18 not out) and Gurkeerat Singh (21 not out) made sure their side had no problems chasing a paltry target set by KKR. But expectedly the star of the match is the RCB pacer Siraj. Appropriately he won the man of the match award. “I was bowling with the new ball a lot in practice, got the opportunity today. The mood in the camp is great. Everyone is supporting each other, talking to each other. Cherished the delivery to Rana, came out exactly as I had thought”, said Siraj after the match as quoted by Crickbuzz.
