Coronavirus or COVID-19 has sent shockwaves across the world. This deadly virus has already claimed more than 2 lakhs lives. Many more are infected in this virus. The whole world is under lockdown. India is no different in this situation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has extended the lockdown period until 3rd May. However, the coronavirus situation hasn’t improved in India. There are assumptions that the lockdown period might further be extended. Narendra Modi led the government likely to decide on the same in the coming week. Lockdown has created a crisis in people’s lives. Especially the poor people are suffering the most as they are not being able to go to work. Hence they don’t have enough money to meet their essential needs. In this critical situation, many cricketers have extended their helping hands. As per a few media reports, he donated Rs 45 lakh and Rs 25 lakh to the Prime Minister and CM’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra) respectively. Apart from that he also gave 5 lakh for “Zomato Feeding India” and another 5 lakh for the welfare of the street dogs. Rohit Sharma tweeted, “We need our country back on feet & the onus is on us. I’ve done my bit to donate 45lakhs to #PMCaresFunds, 25lakhs to #CMReliefFund Maharashtra, 5lakhs to @FeedingIndia and 5lakhs to #WelfareOfStrayDogs. Let’s get behind our leaders and support them @narendramodi @CMOMaharashtra.”
